But the shirts are more than enough, according to the CEO of 32Red Casino, Ed Ware, "Our presence at Premiership and Championship football matches has worked well for us. This will sit well alongside our other sporting activities and most importantly, will significantly enhance our brand through TV, press and other media coverage in the UK and around the globe". When asked why he chose Aston Villa out of the pool of top football clubs in the United Kingdom, Ware said, "Aston Villa FC is one of the UK's biggest clubs and we are very pleased to be associated with them".  On Villa's side, they seem to be equally chuffed with their new gaming partner. The director of sales for Aston Villa, Stuart Ryan, said that although the club had entertained discussions with a number of potential sponsors,
32Red Casino was the perfect choice. "This is the best deal for Aston Villa in so many ways.
32Red is modern, pro-active and at the forefront of its sector. We're looking forward to working with them as commercial partners rather than merely sponsors," said Ryan.Ryan's comment refers to the reported affiliate arrangement between the club and the online casino, which will earn Aston Villa a percentage of any casino business generated through the sponsorship. This revenue will be over and above the sponsorship fee. Ryan explained that "the deal represents an exciting and potentially lucrative opportunity for the club to maximize the commercial advantages of an arrangement which secures initial seasonal payment and a potential share of revenue drawn from 32Red's casino and poker services." If this works out for the team/casino partnership, this could signal the start of a new kind of arrangement between a sponsor and the people or things they're paying to sponsor. We might even find a club like Chelsea looking to restructure their sponsorship agreement with Samsung to include a percentage of airconditioning units sold! Aston Villa's previous sponsor was DWS Investments but after being placed 16th out of 20 teams in the Premier League, the new 32Red kit could be just the amazing technicolor dreamcoat Villa needs to turn over a new leaf and dominate the log.
