 It's down to the wire, as the Top 5 contestants in American Idol fight it out and online gambling bets pour in before tomorrow night's results show. In the last two weeks, fans and online gamblers alike have had expectations shattered. While betting trends at Sportsbook.com pointed to Elliot Yamin and Paris Bennett as the two singers most likely to exit the show next, they survived and Ace Young and Kellie Pickler left instead. With such a strong fan base, both Yamin and Bennett could prove bigger competitors than even Chris Daughtry and Simon Cowell might have imagined. Year after year, the result consistently lies in the hands of the viewing and voting public. The problem she faces being in the Top 5 is not so much that people don't like her, it's that they like someone else more. At this stage in the game, fans are in voting overdrive, phoning and texting (via mobile sms) like crazy for their number one Idol. This leaves those with less support (like Paris) with very little to hang onto.  That said, Yamin's time might also be up. He may be crooning his last balad in tonight's American Idol show and if he doesn't keep his performance at his peak, he may be on the hit list instead of Paris in tomorrow night's results show.
