Elliot Yamin beat the online gambling odds last week when he survived another American Idol results show. Surprisingly, he might even make it through another week, thanks to Paris Bennett's outside odds of making it into the Top 5.Elliot left fans and online gamblers stunned when he joined the Top 6 and waved Ace Young goodbye last Wednesday. But even though the odds and fan support at Sportsbook.com aren't in his favor again this week, Yamin's only coming second last in the list of contestants who are likely to come out of this week's results show smiling. Paris Bennett on the other hand should be packing her bags and saying her goodbyes to her fellow contestants, if this week's Sportsbook.com indicators are as accurate as they were with Bucky Covington two weeks ago. In last week's American Idol eviction show, viewers saw Paris featuring in the bottom 3 contestants, along with Ace Young (who was then promptly shown the door) and Chris Daughtry - who has massive support from both fans and all three Idol judges. The writing is pretty much on the wall for this star singer and unless Elliot Yamin's fans actually admit to themselves that last week's rendition of 'It had to be You' wasn't any good, Paris ends her American Idol roadshow here and now. Her only other out is that the McPheever around Katharine McPhee screeches to a halt after she disappointed many fans with 'Someone to watch over me' last time around - though the Sportsbook.com odds are still firmly in her favor. The sad thing is that Paris can sing. And not just that, she sings beautifully. But she just doesn't have the same headline support that Chris and Katharine's supporters bring to the party. She doesn't have hundreds of fansites to her name or teenage girls wanting to put her poster up on their walls. Not necessarily because she's not their favorite singer - but because she might not be the type of American Idol that teenagers can relate to. And if that's the case, it might be because she's a teenager herself! Though she started singing when she was just 4 years old, Paris is just 17. She's got a long way to go in the music world and she'll most likely be back in next year's American Idol showdown. Taylor Hicks, in comparison, is brushing the age limit for the TV contest at 29 - and Daughtry isn't far off at 26. Your favorite American Idol needs you now more than ever. This Wednesday's results show will leave the Top 5 and a bit of online gambling on your next Idol will go a long way to giving you something back for your neverending support. It's not gambling if you KNOW that your favorite singer IS going to be the 2006 American Idol. Join the fun at Sportsbook.com and make sure you win when they win! |
